The magic of a winter’s night in Swedish Lapland. Pure snow, mountain landscape, velvet sky and spellbinding dance of Aruora borealis. Experience and photograph Aurora borealis with a photographer from LapplandMedia & PhotoAdventures. Spend a memorable evening at our tipi camp (occasionally our ice igloo camp) capturing different aspects of the midwinter night in Lapland. Starry skies dotted with planets and galaxies, a snow-clad slumbering landscape with mountain birch, the alluring dance of northern lights winding its way towards you. An adventure you will never forget, images you will cherish for a lifetime.
Peter Rosén is one of Sweden’s best nature photographers and founder of LapplandMedia & PhotoAdventures which offers professional photo guides to help you in an in-depth photo course on how to capture aurora, stars, galaxies and the breathtaking midwinter landscape in the best possible way. We have held photo courses since 2001 and Peter’s book “Aurora Borealis in Lapland” is one of the great results of this long experience. We are proud to say that we are the only photo adventure company in Swedish Lapland with the highest possible rating from all guests on Tripadvisor and winner of the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence Award 2015. We are also the only company in Swedish Lapland who can offer guided tours with true proffessional photographers all year round.

19.30: Your professional photo guide will meet you at the STF Abisko Tourist Station reception. Presentation of the evening program, check of your photo equipment. SLR cameras, lenses and tripods especially designed for Aurora photographing will be available during the night. 19.45: We are ready to take a beautiful snow mobile sleigh ride to our favorite photo spot in the Abisko valley and to our traditional Sápmi Tentipi® Nordic tipi. While waiting for the Aurora display, our guide will teach you how to best capture the midwinter, igloo or tipi tent on film. Learning the how and why of photography techniques will open up a whole new world and enable you to capture magnificent images you never thought possible. We’ll take a break, make coffee and hot tea over an open fire. Around midnight we will return to your hotel in Abisko or Björkliden.
Note: Our tours are limited to a maximum of 8 participants, which is much less than other players in the region. That means you get more time with your professional photo guide. We do also go much further into the Abisko valley to ensure that we find nice photo spots and do also run our tours longer in the evening which increases your opportunities for great experiences and photos (our guests decide when we go home).
